As you can see, our leader, Brian Gallant, is criss-crossing the province in an attempt to establish real connections with New Brunswickers everywhere. If you watch him closely enough you might notice something different about New Brunswicks next Premier : the man actually enjoys listening to his fellow New Brunswickers speak. Makes no difference if they are lamenting the many challenges facing our humble home, or boasting about the pride they feel when our Province has an opportunity to shine... Brian listens. He considers, empathizes or rationalizes...and then when he does take the stage... New Brunswickers everywhere are keen to listen to our leader. Perhaps its his honnest understanding of the people that live here that allows him to speak with such confidence and conviction. His vision for NB is crystal clear! IE : Economic growth through long-term investments in education... Surely brought about by his tangible feelings of pride regarding the opportunities NB has given him... A desire to see NB become competitive in our traditional industries via innovation and refined manpower that would give us that competitive edge we have sought to regain for so long. And when Brian invites us to envision a NB where mind power creates an economy that goes beyond the exploitation of natural ressources... He knows we can do it, as we have done it before. The Liberals under Frank McKenna produced Canadas first Fiber-Optic superhighway... Moncton still benefits today from such vision and ambition. Regarding injustices, as a lawyer, our Liberal Leader understands the postering and ringmarole politicians too often find themselves engaging in. His positions regarding injustices are clear and easy to understand. For example, Brians empathy for NBs public servants stems from the cruel and unfair way uncertainty has been thrust upon them when they no longer have time to execute a plan B. Shared-Risk means just that... Pensionners must now share the worry that comes with market volatility... They share the worry that comes with risk... Through his actions and the elaboration of his platform we see in our Leader the manifestation of a profound understanding of what frightens, concerns, motivates or gives hope to us all, here in New Brunswick. Over the past year and a half... we have seen a true Leader cristalize before our eyes. He has done his homework and I believe that once this Election truly kicks off, any doubters will be forced to understand that the Liberal Leader truly understands us. His pleasure in listening to his people will have made him what he is today : a Leader who truly has a grasp on what matters down here... And that is perhaps what this province needs right now... A Leader who has spent more time listening than dictating, reforming (for better or worst) or touting magical solutions that have amounted to nothing more than angst, anxiety and agitation... Not to mention policies that would see a profound divide appear in our homes and communities (Shale Gas anyone?) Or pension reform tactics that would pit current workers against pensioners... But most of us see just how cheap such chatter and discourse really is. Perhaps we need someone humble enough to cede the spotlight or microphone...if it allows him to better comprehend what drives us and what drives us nuts.
