As you know I am one of the least political people you know, however; I was fortunate enough today to meet a politician that seemed genuinely interested in the plight of current and former servicemen and women in regards to the indexing of the pension against the CPI instead of the male average weekly wage, the nightmare in dealing with Department of Veteran’s Affairs, and the lack of adequate treatment for members dealing with PTSD. I am talking about Katter’s Australian Party, and in particular Bronwyn Walker (No relation!), Candidate for Herbert in the coming election. Bob Katter has already put forward a bill to have the pension indexed fairly but did not have the support to have it passed. I guess what I am asking you lads is to pass this message onto your friends via email and or Facebook. We all love to sit around and complain how the government is maligning us and forgetting about the needs veterans in general. Well this is our chance to put a federal member in the seat who is on our side and a party that genuinely cares about veteran’s issues. Even if you are not in this area, I am sure you all know people who are either still in or ex-ADF in the area.
