As you know each week I have been introducing a different GM and FMA system in Cebu. I have been asked why do I promote other systems of ESKRIMAinstead of just promoting our art of Magkuno Diamondback Eskrima. First off I personal know each person that I mention and vouch for their ability as a teacher in their own system. My aim/goal is to help propagate FMA in the Philippines and help visitors to Cebu find a reputable Teacher. I thought this week I would look up some clip from Youtube and add it. This clip shows just a fraction of what their system of FMA can do just using just their basics. Combat Eskrima Maranga or C.E.M. is headed by Rodrigo Maranga the son of the late GM Timoteo Maranga founder of Tres Personas Eskrima de Combate Super Kuwentada System. It was shortened to C.E.M. or Combat Eskrima Maranga not only for convenience but to honor the patriarch of the Cuentada system. Basically the bulk of the techniques come from the Cuentada Balintawak Eskrima of GM Venancio Anciong Bacon. But unlike the other Balintawak derivatives- the Teovel and Villasin systems that specializes only in the close range or Corridas techniques, the C.E.M. also gives emphasis to the long range or largo mano techniques in their syllabus. There are also nuances in the expression of disarming techniques that sets CEM apart from the other systems- these have been proven combat effective in the mean streets of Cebu City. Classes are held at the Rooftop, Fernandez Building, 43-Belgium St., Suba-Pasil, Cebu City,Philippines. (Across San Nicolas Church).
