As you may deduce from the title, this score is inspired by the Isle of Skye, located in northwest Scotland. Its Gaelic name is An t-Eilean Sgitheanach. Although it has been suggested that the Gaelic Sgitheanach describes a winged shape there is no definitive agreement as to the names origins. Much of the islands beautiful landscapes and sites are shown in the video. Musically, I used, apart from the classical orchestra, many traditional or old instruments such as fidules (medieval violins), tin and low whistles, bodhrans, harps and of course pipes, trying to give it a certain character. I really enjoyed playing with these quite extraordinary instruments. Hope you enjoy it too.. Cheers!
