Asalam u alaikum. Hello brothers and sisters ...I am a mum of three special needs children who are all have severe and lifelong special needs. Eldest daughter who is 10 years old has global developmental delay which involves speech and learning difficulties, my youngest daughter is 5 she has severe cerebral palsy which has affected all her four limbs she cannot sit unsupported or stand or walk, she is in a wheelchair and shes tubefed as she cannot eat by mouth and has five medications daily. my youngest son is 4 he has low functioning autism and repeats few words and doesnt understand danger and we have to constantly look after them as they are all dependent on us. Today I want to say and express our daily emotions and what people like me who are looking after a special needs child go through. ...it is hard and difficult. ..sometimes all we want to do is lock ourselves and cry, at times we dont show our emotions to the outside world...people think they are weirdos they are aliens from different planets...they dont know what we go through. .as our children are not normal children pick on them either bully them or ignore them...our children are not diseases they do have feelings they do long for a sense of belonging, sure they might not be able to do or think normally but they are still humans they do have feelings and they do get hurt. When our child is having a meltdown anywhere be iy in a carpark restaurants shops or schools please understand that it is because they cannot express their feelings or wants, please do not give us any rude comments but as it hurts us and please ask us if we need any help, please invite us to parties or birthdays or offer to babysit as we all need a break and sometimes it can be difficult for us to attend because of not that we dont want to but because there was an emergency with our child please do be caring and understanding, please dont sgut us or our children out, imagine if that was you and if someone did that to you or your child then how would you feel...this is all we ask from you..at times even oyr own families dont understand what we are going through...even listening to us is a great help...this is all my personal experience I would like to share it with the whole world and make more awareness of disabilities. .please do not judge us as we are trying very hard to be a good parent...for 7-8 years I havent been anywhere...but I thank Allah for giving me such wonderful children alhamdulilaah.
