Asaph had the idea that when he got right with God, that he wouldn’t have any more troubles. The author of Psalm 73 starts by talking about the purity of a person’s heart and the goodness of God. “Truly God is good to Israel, to those whose hearts are pure.” Then in the next verse he says, “But as for me, I almost lost my footing. My feet were slipping, and I was almost gone.” He said, “I got right with God and I still have problems. Verses 13 and 14: Did I keep my heart pure for nothing? Did I keep myself innocent for no reason? I get nothing but trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain.” He had a false expectation that the Bible doesn’t necessarily give. Christians are not due preferential treatment. Seek the Lord through His Word and in prayer. You will find the presence of God is enough, even in the midst of our trials. - Adrian Rogers
