Ascendant lord in the 9th house The 9th house is called the ‘Bhagya’ and ‘Dharma’ house it is also known as the ‘Purva punya’ house the placement of ascendant lord here is mostly auspicious. The ascendant lord stands for ‘self’ and being in ‘Bhagya’ or luck house it means that the individual makes her or his luck by their own efforts. The nature, association and the aspects the ascendant lord receives indicates the direction the person’s luck will take. The ‘Dharma’ nature of the house indicates whether the person will be righteous in action, respect elders and family traditions or not. A well fortified 9th house will make a person religious and righteous. The ‘Purva punya’ means meritorious deeds of the person of previous incarnation and a benefic, well associated and aspected ascendant lord indicates that the person has been a good soul in previous incarnation and will reap the benefits in this incarnation. Spiritually the placement of a benefic ascendant lord in the 9th house indicates that the person will pursue the course of righteousness and would seek emancipation. Example of Shri Ramakrishna Parmahansa who has his ascendant lord in the 9th house aptly demonstrates the good effects of such a placement.
