Ashland County Polk Community Forum on proposed Compost Facility Friday Polk Ball Field Park Friday August 8th, 2014 6:30 p.m. For some reason, I just cannot quit. My neighbors have contacted me to help fiend out what is going on with a 24 acre, Board of Zoning approved compost facility wants to come into our community. After some evaluation, these are my thoughts, number one I do not want this 2 miles from my home and many community members just been made aware of the issue. This Proposed Compost Facility will have garbage trucks rolling in from surrounding counties with food and scraps and zoo garbage and droppings along with trees and other additives, a sorting process that pulls out the plastic from the food then it is ground up and put into open rows to cure. Along side of these open rows of raw compost, lies the village people of Polks back yards, a Jackson Township. Ashland County cemetery that holds our treasured past community and family members, our local park with a playground, a ball field and a pavilion we built that hold an Amish Farmers Market every Saturday in season for the past 5 years. With this told, I felt compelled to take action, to get answers that have not been address to the satisfaction of the residents of this community. This evening we have scheduled Public Forum, we invited the Rosby Company and our Economic Development to answer questions that we feel have been neglected.
