Ashton Kutcher made a speech at some award ceremony a few days ago that has gone viral. I listened to it and what he said was good. In fact what he said was basic common sense. I have asked myself, “Why did his speech have such an impact?” Here is my conclusion. No one expects common sense to come from an actor from Hollywood. The power was not in the speech but in the shock of a speech coming from a guy who makes goofy movies, marries and divorces a woman twice his age, and goes around the country supporting uber-liberal causes. It was like a blind man describing the colors of the rainbow.
