Asian Games 2014 Cricket : India and Pakistan withdraw India and Pakistan has decided not to take part in the men’s cricket competition in the upcoming Asian Games 2014 scheduled to start from September 19 to October 4. Ten teams in both men and women category will compete for the gold medal. The tournament fixtures are yet to be released. However, Pakistan will send its women’s team while India will not send both men and women team. India has not sent both men and women team in the previous Asian games as well (2010, China) while Pakistan had participated in both category last time. Bangladesh had won the gold medal of men’s category while Pakistan conquered the glory in women’s category in the 2010 edition. Among other Asian test nations, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will send both teams to participate in the tournament. In the 2010 edition, test nations had sent their ‘B’ teams.The tournament will be played in T20 format, only for the second time in the Asian games. Nepal men’s team had reached the quarterfinal in 2010 edition. They lost to Sri Lanka in a close encounter losing only by 2 wickets. In spite of the tournament getting closer, both men and women team of Nepal has not started preparations. The women’s team of South Korea is in Nepal to prepare for the Asian Games.
