Asian Studies is pleased to inform all Arts students and professors about the following international scholarship and teaching opportunity. The 2014 TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) Scholarship Program: Sponsored by the Korean government (Ministry of Education and National Institute for International Education) every year. Definitely a wonderful program for ARTS and other UPEI students (including recent graduates) who would like to go to South Korea for 6-12 months as TaLK Scholars (conversational English teachers; 15 hours of teaching weekly) at elementary schools in Korea (various cities). Good scholarship (salary) and all kinds of benefits and privileges; e.g., - monthly scholarship stipend: about $1400 - immediate settlement allowance: about $280 - monthly housing supported at a fixed rate: about $380 monthly - entrance and exit allowance (airfare reimbursement): about $1,200 max. - medial insurance coverage provided (the Study Abroad Health Insurance) - vacation: 7 business days (for those with 6 months) or 14... days (...with 1 year) - The formal Scholarship Certificate is awarded by the Korean government at the end of program - cultural exchange programs and field trips and tours - no charge - etc. Program period: Feb. 1 - 28 (arrival & orientation weeks) and teaching from Mar. 1, 2014 for 5 or 10 months Online application form package for downloading: talk.go.kr Application deadline: Dec. 6 (Fri - final deadline).
