Aside from family my loves are history and science in the late 80’s when we lived in Vienna, VA just outside of Washington, D.C. for a little over 3 yrs…I was in hog heaven. If a person enjoys these type of things Washington, DC is the place to live, one can visit some place or event every weekend and never see it all it was…but we tried. One of my favorite weekend trips was our visit to the site of The Battle at Gettysburg in Pennsylvania. We just happen to arrive at the battle site at the same time as a class of young Army officers, from the War College, who were there on a field trip. They were lead by their instructor / teacher who provided a great description at every stopping point on the tour…we followed and listened all day long. Without a doubt one of the best historical site visits we ever had. As the 150 year anniversary of the Battle at Gettysburg nears I am once again transported back in time to that wonderful awe inspiring and decided happier times in my life. toledoblade/Culture/2013/06/30/Small-town-braces-for-tourist-invasion.html
