Ask Me And I Will Tell You: ALL ABOUT PRAYER NOT A RECITAL The disciples of the Lord Jesus came to Him and they asked of Him, Lord teach us how to pray. They had witnessed Him praying and must have seen the very intimacy of the event. The very question leads one to think that they must have believed or felt that they were deficient in their ability to pray, or the outcomes of their prayers were not realized. Regardless, it also points to the natural-mindedness of the disciples. As such, Jesus does not rebuke or correct them, but proceeds to give the following. When you pray, say Father, Holy be thy name, Thy Kingdom come. We need to be assured of whom we are calling upon. God, is Father, and there is none other before Him. Our focus is on Him and Him alone while understanding His nature and His attributes. His desires and purposes are of the Kingdom, to which we seek first, the Kingdom of God and all His Righteousness. Give us each day our daily bread. In the creation, God set the greater light to govern the day, and the lessor to govern the night. Each having its apportioned time, as also set with the seasons. Our daily needs are likewise subject to the cycles in which they are set. We must know the boundaries that are set in which we operate. He is the Father, and has already provided for all our needs. And forgive us our sins. Our fallen nature, sinful, is an affront to our God. To be full of pride, arrogance and being haughty is what He hates. Yet these traits are what we so readily show, even without being aware. Humility and forgiveness are reflections of His countenance. For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. If you have an issue with your brother, or neighbor, go and make right before coming to make a sacrifice to the Father. Not holding onto grudges, and being able to forgive a wrong, even canceling out that which is owed is the ongoing witness of our lives before God. And lead us not into temptation God tempts no-one and neither is He tempted by any evil. In this we are reminded of the temptations by the evil one, the devil. Submit yourself first onto God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Remember, the steps of a righteous man are ordered of the Lord. He is our Heavenly Father, and if we know how to give good gifts to our own children, how much more will our Heavenly Father give even His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, to those who ask. The essence of Prayer, is the Living Relationship we have with God the Father, having been reconciled to Him through His Son Jesus Christ, by the Cross, and held in the Power of the Holy Spirit.
