Ask, seek and knock is a “how-to” instruction guide for answered prayer. Asking is the first step—making our request known to God. Many of us never get that far! James 4:2 says, “…you do not have because you do not ask God.” Simply approach God with the problem and lay it out before Him. Seeking comes next—that’s where we spend time listening and absorbing His Word so we know what God is thinking about our situation. Leave no stone unturned as you press in to hear Him. God wants to make His will known to you. “The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will show them His covenant” (Psalm 25:14 NKJV). Once we discover His will on the subject, we are to persist in prayer—that’s where the knocking comes in! When we knock on a door we are trying to rouse someone’s attention. Knocking is loud and continuous especially when you know the person is home. always pray and don’t give up (Ephesians 6:18 tells us to “pray…on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests…and always keep on praying.” Christ’s motto for his disciples was this:Luke 18:1).
