Asked for and received: From our class last night - Cooking with Beer Beer Ice Cream 3 cups cold cream 1 bottle dark beer of your choice - we used Guinness 1 cup brown sugar 1 Tablespoon vanilla 1cup beer nuts - crushed Combine cream, beer, brown sugar and vanilla in blender until blender. Process in ice cream machine. Before freezing fold in beer nuts. I could not find beer nuts so I candied my own peanuts. Beer bread 2 tablespoons dried yeast 1/2 cup warm water 1bottle dark beer at room temp - we used Guinness 4 tablespoons dark brown sugar 6 tablespoons honey 1 tablespoon kosher salt 5 cups of bread or all purpose flour Dissolve yeast in water with 1 tablespoon of the brown sugar until foamy. Add everything else and mix in kitchen aid mixer with dough hook for 5 minutes. Place in greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap and let rise until double. Divide dough in half for two loaves and shape into rounds. Roll the tops in sunflower seeds and place on a cornmeal dusted parchment lined sheet tray. Let rise until double again. Bake at 375 degrees until nice and dark golden, about 35-45 minutes.
