Asking for thoughts and prayers for my Noah. Tomorrow he undergoes surgery for a massive cyst inside his sinus cavity. It has grown so large that it was pushing on his optic nerves and literally giving him a skull splitting headache. Draining the cyst provided temporary relief but it refilled and will continue to do so until removed. It is a very invasive procedure and he will be hospitalized for 7-10 days afterward to make sure no complications arise. Because of the rarity of the condition and how localized it is the puzzle took us close to a year to solve. All of the blood work came back clean. All of the tests were fine. He was managed as best he could be with bute and antibiotics. As a result of the cyst he lost a lot of weight (he started gaining immediately after draining the cyst and started losing again as it refilled) and muscle tone. I was do scared because he was so little but the weight loss was a blessing in disguise because when he started loosing we started working up a possible tooth abscess and when the physical examination failed to identify the problem tooth we decided to x-ray his skull to check the roots and that is when we found the cyst! Please no negative comments. After much thought, conversation, and consultations with many specialists we are confident that we are making the best choice for him and as long as he is willing we will continue to do whatever is necessary to fix this. He deserves his retirement (he is in his late teens, early 20s) and he is very loved and is a part of our family. The picture is of our last ride.
