Asma Jehangir and Babar Sattar on Imran Khan’s contempt of court case Supreme Court is the last place to resort to seek justice. It has the last word. but is the court the repository of infallible wisdom as well that it may start a suo motu procedure on every issue of random choice? That exactly is the reason that to guard against this delusion / danger, an elaborate code of conduct for the judges had to be set in requiring a genuine neutrality where the book of law is it’s bible. The ill-executed decision on the presidential election date case and summoning Imran Khan for contempt of court have resurrected the old debate around judicial activism / populism. Asma Jehangir and Babar Sattar (who recently wrote an excellent article “Hubris (arrogance or excessive pride) as Justice” in Dawn: dawn/news/1032941 ) talk sanity in this TV talk show. Judicial activism is under heavier criticism today because the aggrieved party (Imran Khan) is of “greater integrity” now than the “corrupt” and inefficient PPP. This time it is SC and IK; both have a “great moral reservoir” to used the words of TV journalist, Abdul Malik. awaztoday.co/News-Talk-Shows/41797/Dunya-8-With-Malick-1st-August-2013-Peechay-kaun-hatayga-Adalat-yan-Imran-Khan.aspx
