Asociatia Livezile Transilvaniei – the Orchards Association Transylvania was founded. This is a big step for the sustainable conservation of rare fruits in this special region of Romania and its fruit tradition. The new association was propagated at the Apple Day in the Transylvanian village Malancrav, Romania, which took place on Saturday, 4. October with the participation of SAVE Foundation, local officials and a representative of the Swiss contribution programme. The event was a part of the partnership project “Sustainable Agriculture in Remote Areas of Romania: Conservation and Adding Value to Fruit Varieties”. Transylvanian and Swiss apple varieties were shown, possibilities of conservation and growing were discussed. But also traditional food,fun and folk were not forgotten . People from all over the area took place at this event.
