Asparagus during its summer glory. Plant some for yourself. After - TopicsExpress

Asparagus during its summer glory. Plant some for yourself. After enormous amounts of organic matter, a 2 year settling in period, and I harvested asparagus spears every evening for over a month. I quit harvesting long before I felt as if I were leaning on the plants. The ferny foliage is dense, covered with seeds, and thick with sprouts. Just to the right and east of the asparagus is my once desolate corner, now lush and green with an apricot, a wily curly willow and clumps of enormous ornamental grass. The corner conceals a long, narrow nook behind the fence and brick wall garage. Yes, there is a hidden corner. I particularly enjoy gray/blue/pink in the garden. The artemesia and blue salvia punctuate the lower ground while the delightful butterfly bush hurls its long blooms outwards, an essay in blue, purple, and calm. The peppermint in front is my vanguard, I allow mints to tackle the thick mulches on the garden and they subdue wood chips, hay, leaves, and traffic. A host of flying insects including the most astounding black butterflies hum above the mints. The garden is always fragrant. Breath deep, live. Thurs = 5 months without a cigarette. Please notice my Yankee thrift, an old wicker chair too good to throw out, too bad to sit on, (grin), pushes leeks and artemesia away from the grassy lane in a clean surf style.
