Aspen Colorado is a well know exclusive ski resort with only about 7,000 residents. However, the town swells to approximately 30,000 to 40,000 visitors during the high season summer and winter months. During the past 10 years we have had a 15% increase in population in our small area. 42% of our residents earn over $200,000 per year and our community consists of Multi-Billionaires (including David and Charles Koch with an estimated wealth of $14 Billion), Millionaires, and minimum wage earners. The largest employer in the area is the Aspen Skiing Company. But the biggest industry is real estate. The average price of a single family home is well over $6 million. Real Estate is valuable because of the wonderful place we live (4 World Class Ski Mountains in one area; gold medal fly fishing rivers, cultural activities that rival big cities, and more) and the scarcity of land due to Public Forest Service and BLM Lands surrounding our town. We have every low taxes relative to property values and buyers in our market are often surprised that they are not much higher. There is no question that Aspen will retain its excellent status as a world class resort. Our local celebrities homeowners include Kevin Costner, Donald Trump, Bill Joy (Sun Microsystems), Michael Dell (Dell Computers), Jerry Yang (Yahoo), Jeffrey Soffer (Turnberry Associates, he is engaged to marry Elle McPherson), Jack Nicholson, George Hamilton, Goldie Hawn, Melanie Griffith, etc., etc., etc. Here is some information on Aspen Demographics: Age* Under 25 5% 25-34 14% 35-44 22% 45-54 22% 55-64 21% 65+ 17% Marital Status* Families w/ children at home 38% Empty-nesters 32% Singles w/out children 14% Couples w/out children 17% You can see, we attract the Baby Boomers!
