Aspen and Sugar were found by a neighbor and kept safe until their owner could be reached. Were so happy for them and their family!! Can it get any better? YES!! Not only is this great for them, but because they were reunited without being dropped off at the shelter, two kennels spaces remained available for two other dogs that truly are homeless. This saves lives!! How can you help the most when you find a lost pet? Kennel space is precious and unfortunately sometimes shelters are full and have more pets than kennel space. Its still necessary - and you are required by law - to notify your local shelter or animal control when you find a lost pet. The shelter will scan the dog for a microchip and ask you fill out a a short form which will help them find the owner. Your contact information is kept on file to give to the owner when they are found. After notifying the shelter, by fostering the pet in your home until the owner is found youre helping your shelter save lives by freeing up space for another pet who may truly need that kennel space to live. So, even though the person who found these dogs probably doesnt realize it, they may have saved four lives today - Aspen and Sugars, plus two more dogs at the shelter who were grateful to have the kennel space! Great job!! Thank you to everyone involved in getting them back home!!
