Asphalt Plant Being Arranged for Khan Abdul Wali Khan Bye Pass Road and Garamchashma Roads before end of September 2014. Upon the request of MNA Chitral Shahzada Iftikhar Uddin Colonel Jamal In charge of FWO Arandu Road has in principle showed his willingness to allow the use of the asphalt plant being set up at Gang by the FWO. The MNA Chitral has also approached Secretary C&W KPK Mr. Hanif Orakzai and Chief Engineer North Mohammad Ijaz. Yousafzai to make the arrangements for finances to ensure good quality work at Khan Abdul Wali Khan Bye Pass Road and Garamchashma Road. It must be noted that huge sums of money is being already spent on the two road projects but in spite of the budgetary provisions for asphalt plants the C&W Department was hell bent upon suing TST will is a very inferior material and where TST was sued such roads barely have a life of between 6 months to a maximum of one year. In contrast roads using asphalt have a life of at least 25-30 years. A good example is the Chitral Booni Road constructed between 1988 and 1990 whose quality has not deteriorated despite of passage of 26 years. Chitral does not need simple roads but good quality roads. To ensure that C&W is made to adhere to the quality work as per contract specifications the MNA has spoken to Director General (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) KPK to drive this point across to the Secretary C&W to ensure that the quality of work is ensured in all Chitral Projects. The MNA also emphasized with the DG to stress upon the C&W Department for timely completion of the road projects. Especially the DG was requested to stress upon the Secretary C&W for early start of work on the Booni Shandur and Booni Buzund Road where NAB has started a fresh investigation. The MNA stressed that unlike the past the fresh investigations must not stop or further delay start of work on the Booni Buzund (Torkhow) and Booni Shandur Roads since such investigations and inquiries have always resulted in stoppage of work on the two vital projects in the key valleys.
