Assalaamu alaikum president Waheed, Pandemonium broke out this - TopicsExpress

Assalaamu alaikum president Waheed, Pandemonium broke out this morning as we briefly examined the marriages of The Beloved ﷺ. Everytime seerah of The Beloved ﷺ or another Prophet for example Ibrahim عليه السلام is recounted in the area of polygamy, the men become exceptionally excited, their eyes light up, the early morning yawns turn into unending smiles, and the usual response of some men go something like, ah, the women jealous. Ive often considered that and thought to myself, sure, jealousy is an innate characteristic of the female, even with the wives of The Beloved ﷺ. But they knew and were comforted by the fact that this jealousy was only a feeling and emotion of this world, as Allah سبحانه و تعالى will remove rancour and jealousy in the hereafter. Al Quran 7:43 and 59:10. But do you know who seems to be more jealous than women? You guessed it, its the man! From the moment a husband senses the slightest of interest, innocent or otherwise in his wife from another man, he becomes uneasy or tisic as we say in sweet T&T. A wife dresses up with a bit of eye shadow or brighter lipstick, and the husband wants to know, where are you going honey, dont let anyone take you And thats not the protective instinct talking! So while this isnt meant to be Robert Axelrods Tit for Tat, the next time men joke about womens jealousy streak, just remember that Allah has given you conditional permission to marry 1 wife. Al Quran 4:3, and that we women will be inwardly smiling at how Allah made us wear hijab not only for our own benefit but also to protect our mens gaze and chastity and to restrain his concupiscent self! Say, I am but a man like yourselves. Al Quran 18:110. You say, I am but a man like you. Al Quran 41:6. The man here refers to The Holy Prophet ﷺ and most people translate the verses as above and are left with the incorrect understanding that He ﷺ was just like us. Whats so different, He ﷺ came, brought the revelation and then died, so lets get on with the business of the day! Our teacher says, if The Prophet ﷺ is a human being, a man, just like us, then His physical, mental and spiritual characteristics should be just like us. So let us examine some of these characteristics briefly; 1. Acute Sight- a. The Beloved ﷺ is leading the salaah, and is able to see everyone in the congregation whilst He ﷺ is in Ruku and Sajdah. b. He ﷺ used to see in the darkness of the night just like the day. Is our Sight like His ﷺ? 2.Fragrant Perspiration- Umm Sulaym (RA) used to put a piece of leather under The Beloved ﷺ when He slept, to collect His ﷺ perspiration. She would then put it into a container and found that it was sweeter than Attar (perfume). When Anas ibn Malik (RA) was about to die, he instructed that when the attar is to be put on his shroud, that the container containing The Rasools ﷺ perspiration should be used. Is our Perspiration like His ﷺ? 3. Curing Hair- The companions (RA) used to collect the hair of The Beloved ﷺ as a means of cure. Whenever anyone was afflicted with bad eye or sickness, they would put His ﷺ hair in the water, then remove the hair, and give the person the water to drink and they would be cured. Is our Hair like His ﷺ ? And our teacher has given us pages and pages of examples comparing these characteristics. So the correct interpretation of the above 2 ayats is; I am a human being AS you are a human being, NOT I am a human being like you. There is no equality between Rasul ﷺ and the rest of human beings. He ﷺ was born as a human being with hands and eyes as us, only so that there is no barrier in what He says to us, unlike if He ﷺ was born as an angel or jinn. President Waheed, the problem I now face is that I would be held to a higher standard of accountability because I have received the Isnad (transmission) directly from my teachers mouth, from his teachers mouth,.....all the way back to The Beloved ﷺ. Similar to the financial concept of Risk and Reward (IAS 18), this is the price you pay for the blessing of being in the company of The Righteous! And by the way, as ancient and primitive as it may seem, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf highly recommends this method of teaching used by our dear teacher, whereby you sit in the class with the teacher and learn directly from him. Technologise with real time virtual learning in a synchronous system if you like, its still the same philosophy! Until next week Insha Allah, our homework is to commit Suratul Ikhlas to memory. Was-salaam, Hannah
