Assalamoualaikoum brothers and sisters :) Here is a small glimpse of explanation on what is Tassawwuf/Sufiism?? Every single act has an external aspect (the action) and an internal aspect (the intention). The act of worshiping Allah (Subhaanahou wa taaala) also has these two aspects; one which is visible to everyone (the namaz, reading the Quran, duahs, etc..) and the hidden aspect, which is the niyyah, the intention (the spirituality). The external aspect of ibaadat can be many and can be perfectly done physically. For example for salaat; the takbeer, reading surah, doing rukuh and sujood. But if these are not done with the intention of solely for the agreement Allah (Subhaanahou wa taaala), the salaat is not accepted. The absence of this one internal act (the niyyah/spirituality), will make all the external actions and the salaat performed rejected. All your actions and good deeds depend on your niyyah. All the visible, external actions depend on the one thing which is not visible to human eye, the niyyah (the intention). Correction of external act is the subject of Fiqh and Shariah, and correction of the internal state of mind, the niyyah and purity of heart is the subject of tasawwuf/sufism and tariqah. Our Master, Rasulullah (Swallallahialayhi wassallam) combined both the external and internal act. So the combination of Fiqh, Shariah and Tariqah will then lead you to the perfection of your pious actions In Shaa Allah. Sufis are those who have done on themselves purification of heart, purification of soul, purification of innerself and who have made Allah (Subhaanahu wa taaala) sufficient for them. Sufism is about the purity and sincerity of your intention, unconditional love and submission for Allah (Subhaanahou wa taaala). All our acts depends on our niyyah, as taught by Habiballah (Swallallahialayhi wassallam). And the purity of niyyah is subject of tassawwuf/sufism and spirituality.
