Assalamu alaikum wa Ramatuallah. When I first reverted I was told that fasting 6 days of the month of Shaban was like fasting a whole year, but read last year that the hadeeth was forged. Heard if was a Sunni practice, but recently heard a Shia mention it. Asked another Shia source and they say it was Mustahab to fast one day of Shaban, but particularly the 15th which was presumably imam Mahdis birthday. I know one should try to fast regardless, but wondering about authentic hadeeth on this matter and if 6 day fasting was a sunnah (tradition or act) of the Ahlul Bayt (beloved Rasul saws and his family and true companions)?
