Assalamu alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu It is narrated by Abu Huraira (radhi Allahu anhu): The Prophet Muhammed(sallal lahu alaihi wa sallam) said, Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshiping in the mornings, the nights. Sahih Bukhari hadith 38, book 2. The meaning of the saying of the Prophet Muhammed(sallal laahu `alayhi wa sallam): “Religion is easy...”, is that there is generally no additional hardship in its obligations on people to an extent that causes them hardship or overburdens them. Allah(subhanahu wa taala) Says : {He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty.}[Qu ran 22:78] In case there is a difficulty in some circumstances, then the Sharee’ah(law of Islam) renders this difficulty easy, like performing Tayammum when there is no water, shortening the prayer when travelling, performing the prayer while sitting when one is unable to stand, and so forth. As regards the meaning of ‘whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way’, Ibn Hajar (rahimullah) said: “This means that when a person exhausts himself in performing too many acts of worship, he will eventually become unable to continue and will stop (performing them).” Allah(subhanahu wa taala) does not burden a soul beyond its capacity, so in the matter of religion where each and every thing has been brought to light ,where every possible solution of any problem is been discussed in the light of Quran and Sunnah.So, our religion Islam is very easy to follow and we must try to be near perfection and be among practising Muslims.
