Assault Police – Man Charged – Berrimah Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have charged a 25-year-old man following the alleged assault of two Police Officers over the weekend. Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Annette Cooper said Police responded to reports of a trespass incident at a business in Berrimah on Saturday morning. “The two Police officers attempted to assist the man from the area but were assaulted. It is alleged the man also assaulted a St John Ambulance Officer when they tried to assist him. He was charged with: Assault – on Officer in course of employment Assault member of the Police Force (x2) Resist Police Assault worker He was remanded in custody and will appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today. “This behaviour is totally unacceptable and Police will not tolerate this level of violence on Officers going about their duties,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Cooper said.
