The ideal candidate will also possess a bachelor’s degree. Candidates must have experience with commercial/residential re-evaluations, Board of Review and defending Michigan Tax Tribunal appeals. Candidates must be able to ensure the correct taxation of properties, prepare assessment rolls, process personal property statements in accordance with Michigan State Tax Law, and perform physical inspections of residential, industrial and commercial properties to determine full and fair values of both land and buildings. The successful contractor will maintain current records and uncap properties which have transferred ownership, complete reporting in accordance with Michigan State Tax Law, be able to handle property splits/combinations, prepare Special Assessment rolls, process IFT applications, have budget experience for the department; provide information on delinquent taxes; appear in court if necessary for delinquent property disputes; be able to meet with City staff as well as the public to answer questions and perform other functions as required. Candidate will be responsible for GIS maintenance, duties, database entries, etc. Supervisory skills and a valid Michigan driver’s license are required as is experience with the following software: Microsoft Windows XP; Word; Excel; Access; BS&A Tax Administration, Special Assessment, and Assessing, and Civic/Clarity Systems Accounting programs. The contractor will report to the Director of Financial Services.
