Management Information Systems (MIS) is the study of people, technology, organizations and the relationships among them. MIS professionals help firms realize maximum benefit from investment in personnel, equipment, and business processes. MIS is a people-oriented field with an emphasis on service through technology. Explain: sometimes referred to as Information Management and Systems, is the discipline covering the application of people, technologies, and procedures collectively called information systems to solving business problems. Management Information Systems are distinct from regular information systems in that they are used to analyze other information systems applied in operational activities in the organization. 2. Importance of System Security- Information security means protecting information and information systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, perusal, inspection, recording or destruction. The terms information security, computer security and information assurance are frequently used interchangeably. These fields are interrelated often and share the common goals of protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information; however, there are some subtle differences between them. No one has ever really completely addressed any problems with security. With the advancement of security system technology comes the development in the skills of criminal in entering homes. To prevent any crime and threats to people’s life, many in the industry of security system constantly try to develop new systems. Many people have been saved from the dangers due to the efficient security system installed in many homes. Even offices are not free from possible dangers. This is another reason why security is necessary because the guards alone are not enough. Thieves will do anything to avoid them which they can not do with the security system. Therefore, in addition to security guards, the security systems are needed as well. It is important that all security today work efficiently in many home or offices and has a 24-hour monitoring setup. CCTV or closed circuit television is most commonly used security system today. From the moment that this security system emerged to the market, most thieves that are known to roam during the dark have been successfully apprehended. This is because the CCTV captures every wrongdoer in action via video, leaving them no choice but to surrender to the police. Besides being used in the offices or at home, it can also be used on the street to monitor the environment and any possible crime. Many communities have installed this device because with the presence of CCTV cameras on the street, recorded crime has reduced greatly. By this new technology, collecting information is much faster and more accurate. Another advantage of the use of a surveillance camera such as this is that it can function through the Ethernet. What this means is that it can operate without additional power supply. Since it connects to the internet, the security system can be reviewed in any internet hotspot. There’s even a feature that allow you to check the security on your cell phone when it is connected to the internet. This disadvantage of this is that having your security system connected to the internet can make it vulnerable to hacking. But in most cases this is the best way to keep your living space or workplace protected. Monitored burglar alarm systems usually have six components and are the spine of nearly all alarm systems. • Control Panels • Security Keypads • Motion Detectors • Door and Window Contacts • Glass Break Censors • Sirens When purchasing an alarm system for your business, recognize which components you will actually need and how to operate them in order to optimize your systems full potential. There are several vendors out there today; compare products and prices to ensure you get the best system for your specific business. You dont want to be the one who said, I wish I would have had an alarm system in place and this wouldnt have happened. 3.
