Assuming that a state of hypnosis will naturally occur simply - TopicsExpress

Assuming that a state of hypnosis will naturally occur simply because a subject has their eyes closed is an untenable supposition. This act alone will produce relaxation but it will not usually produce hypnosis. You have not actually induced any kind of identifiable hypnosis unless a phenomena can be produced. If a phenomena cant be produced, then its only relaxation. Relaxation is of course beneficial and might even help with the acceptance of some suggestions, but whatever way you look at it, relaxation isnt hypnosis. Decide to become better this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If a subject, after submitting to the hypnotic procedure, cannot produce any kind of Phenomena then there seems little point in calling him hypnotised (Clark L Hull)
