Aston Villa have told Serie A side AS Roma that Christian Benteke - TopicsExpress

Aston Villa have told Serie A side AS Roma that Christian Benteke will not be leaving the club before the end of this month. Roma director of football Walter Sabatini is believed to be interested in taking the Belgium striker to Italy. But Villa value Benteke at £30 million and the 22-year-old penned a new four-year contract in July. Benteke had handed in a summer transfer request with Tottenham Hotspur looking to make a move to take him to White Hart Lane. But he quickly withdrew it after a meeting with Villa boss Paul Lambert. And Tottenham failed to meet Villa’s asking price which was around £25m before Benteke’s new £56,000 a week deal. But Benteke has started the season with three goals in as many Premier League games. He promises to be one of the top flight’s top strikers again this season and wants to better his league tally of 19 goals. #MLceltic
