Astonishing! Astonishing!!! Astonishing!!!. ------------------------- Few days ago. I granted a recorded television interview on chiboc girls abduction by an independent producer . In the panel were a Lawyer, a Psychologist, a teacher and a human right activist. I spoke on why abduction and terrorism are not Islam, and also discussed how ICT can play a major role in searching for the girls and the #bringbackourgirls campaign. But something jolted my heart. I pretty did appreciate the intellectual specialty of other speakers, but amazingly, none of them have read the Quran before, they are not historians of Islam, they know nothing about the good manners of prophet Muhammad. In fact, they didnt know that there is a dedicated chapter of the Quran titled Mary, the mother of Jesus.(Quran Chapter 19). They did not even know that That Muslims believe in the miracle of Jesus which he did by Allahs permission. They did not also know that Quran chapter 3 is named after the family of the father of Mary. More disturbingly, they did not also know that Muslims strongly believe that Jesus is coming back to conquer the Dajal (Antichrist) as explained to us by prophet Muhammad. I was silently devastated when I realized they have not even read that it was the advent of Islam that brought women out from slavery and gave them their right to live and not to be murdered from birth. Astonishing! Astonishing!!! Astonishing!!!. I kept on asking myself, how on earth would this people really justify the topic because obviously, Islamic identity must come up in such discussion. Alhamdulillah, after explaining to them by Allahs permission , they all came to the conclusion that Islam is NOT Boko Haram and Boko Haram is NOT Islam. The lesson I learnt was that before you engage in a discussion that is farther from people. Bring them closer to it by explaining to them first. You would he amazed how they would even advocate for the truth than you! Exposure unlocks new world of knowledge.
