At 02.45 this morning V26P1 was called to Salcombe to support the Coastguard, the Ambulance services specialist HART team, our own colleagues from Salcombe and specialist rescue teams from Camels Head and Greenbank in rescuing a casualty who had fallen down an embankment in the town. A rescue helicopter was also involved. The role of the Kingsbridge team was to provide Command and Safety Officer support. This is a key role in all incidents, and especially at those involving other agencies. We acted as the main communications channel to the Fire Control, kept a record of all key decisions and established the written risk assessment process.
