At 0946 on September 8, 2014, Firecom notified the Islip Terrace Fire Department of a residential structure fire on Juniper Street. Shortly after that, Chief Frank Cuoco arrived on scene and saw smoke showing. The 13/35 was given and mutual aids were requested from the Islip Fire Department for the RIT, from East Islip for a ladder, and from Central Islip for an engine to the scene. The Great River Fire Department was requested to stand by at Islip Terraces HQ. The fire was located on the number 3 side kitchen and extended to the dining and living rooms. Engine 3-6-2 picked up the hydrant, supplying Ladder 3-6-6 with water. Two lines were stretched and put into operation. Extensive overhaul was performed and while the primary and secondary searches were negative for human life, a dog was found hiding under the deck. Islip Town Animal Control was summoned to the scene to safely remove the dog. Exchange Ambulance of the Islips was requested to back up Islip Terraces EMS. While enroute to the scene, they were flagged down for an MVA and requested mutual to cover the fire. Central Islip Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance responded to the request and, after assuring the patients at the MVA were properly cared for, Exchange arrived on scene as well. In addition to the utility companies, the Town of Islip Fire Marshals Office was on scene along with the Suffolk County Police. Rich Stark FC-49
