At #10 in our #Top10 Japanese Films of 2013: SAD TEA (サッドティー directed by Rikiya Imaizumi). This year we have been watching many Workshop films (films made by institutions who hire directors who teach actors/producers/etc through the process of actually making a film in a very short period of time with a minuscule budget) and this one from ENBUゼミナール was one of the better ones. A very witty script and unique characters talking about relationships is very reminiscent of a Woody Allen type film in its setup, though with a very quirky and Japanese vibe and great payoff.
