At 2 this morning, one of my best friends and my car departed on the Alaska ferry for Bellingham, in the next part of my upcoming move. She will arrive in Bellingham Fri am, and take said car-loaded to the gills w/my plants, and personal stuff, to my new home just south of b-town. My sister and brother in law, who Ill be living less than a mile from, will take her to her sisters, then stay near Sea Tac and pick me and my little dog up Sat late am. The movers will be here Thurs and Friday to finish packing my stuff and furniture. I am officially retired from State of Ak as of last Friday, but hope to find part time work once settled. Its very bitter sweet to be making this move. Ill be closer to my family and away from SE AK weather (living in a rain forest is very, very wet, and lots of snow) but the reason for all this change is because of Dens death from peritoneal meso 13 mo ago. I never imagined leaving Juneau. We loved it here, and its been good to us-good jobs, good friends. His ashes are buried here, and I will so miss stopping by the cemetery on the way to or from work and visiting him. But my family is anxiously waiting for me to come back to WA and have made my new home livable and lovely, from the pix my sister has sent, so it will be good.
