At 33 feet (10m) long, 11 feet high, 8 feet wide and over 24,000lbs (10,886kg), this 1950 GM Futurliner is the Titanic of concept vehicles. But it never sank. Built as a showcase for GMs so-called Parade of Progress that crisscrossed the US from the mid-1930s into the ‘50s, just 12 total Futurliners were built. Heavily influenced by the Art Deco design movement, Futurliners varied in detail from one to the other, but they all had an upstairs. Yes, a second storey. All proceeds from the sale of this Futurliner, last purchased by collector Ron Pratte in 2006, will go to Americas Armed Forces Foundation, benefitting US war veterans.
