At 4:25 this morning our father, Melvin Litzau passed away peacefully at LTC. He lived a very full life of 95.5 years. Was a veteran of WWII, decorated with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star among other medals. Was wounded twice in combat. Enjoyed farm life, even baling hay the old fashioned way until 92 years, then thought he might start to slow down a bit. Loved spending time with family, grandkids, great grandkids. Avid church goer. We have no doubt that he is in heaven. As far as I know, he was the oldest living Litzau in the USA. Another generation has shifted. Were still on the family farm as of 1885, and intend on upholding the tradition in his absence. He was a great man!
