At 8:15 this evening, Holy Saturday 2014, St. Gregory the Great Episcopal Church in Athens, Georgia, will join the church throughout time and around the world as we celebrate the most ancient liturgy of the church, The Great Vigil of Easter. Everyone is invited to join with us. Following the Jewish tradition, the new day, and hence Easter begins at sundown on Saturday. Thus this will be our first celebration of the Resurrection of Our Lord. No need to get up early on Sunday morning, we have already celebrated the resurrection. This ancient liturgy starts outside around a fire and includes ancient chants, the greatest hits of the Bible, baptisms, glorious music, bread and wine, and the proclamation of the Risen Lord.
