At 8:30pm, on April 6, 1994, president JUVENAL HABYARIMANA of Rwanda was returning from a summit in Tanznia when a surface-to-air missile shot his plane in Kigali. He and all the people on board the plane perished!That was the beginning of the tribal war between Tutsis and Hutus that claimed 800,000 lives in 100 days. The Rwanda genocide! President Jonathan, as envisaged, just cancelled his planned trip to Chibok for reason(s) we don‘t know for now, and some people are already laughing and mocking him as a fearful president. No, he‘s not being fearful, I think he doesn‘t want what happens in Rwanda to repeat itself in Nigeria considering the babaric and beastial mindset of Boko Haram and their sponsors. He has always said that he‘s not worth anybody‘s blood. He knows the repercussion of any “accident“ to him, so if he tries to prevent that, I don‘t see it as cowardice or fearful, that‘s patriotism and statesmanship. We must roundly and collectively condemn Boko Haram and their sponsors. What‘s happening in Borno state can better be described as a war situation, no president has ever visited a warfront. It‘s not cowardice, it‘s being careful not to aggravate the already strained situation.
