At 9:13 am, as 14 members of the company were in the Traditions Training Officer Development Class, the pre-alert went out for a building fire at the Hess Express on Beaver Valley Pike in Providence Township. QFD units were on the street as the tones were going out, with Chief 571 and Chief 57 arriving to find smoke showing from the store. Bart Township, Refton and Willow Street were also on the assignment. Engine 574 arrived and stretched a line into the store, finding a working fire and heavy smoke condition. The fire in the ceiling was knocked down as Truck 57s crew and Engine 572s crew opened up and began pulling the ceiling. The working fire dispatch was requested, which brought additional units from Strasburg and Lampeter to the scene. Crews had the fire quickly contained and store stock covered with tarps to minimize damage. The fire was put under control AT 9:31 am, with units remaining on the scene until 10:17 am. Good work to all companies involved. The crews were able to be back in the training room by 11:00 am. Thanks to FF Derrell Beiler and FF Tom Amico for the pictures.
