At All Saints Anglican Church - Peterborough, ON, we sang the Huron Carol (Jesous Ahatonhia). This is the oldest Christmas carol composed in Canada -- by Saint Jean de Brébeuf, ca. 1642, on the basis of a French carol. Its very popular here, obviously, but it also appears in the Episcopal Churchs 1982 hymnal (#114). The standard English text of the carol isnt true to its Huron/Wendat origins, referring to God as Manitou, which is Algonquin/Anishnaabe, not Huron/Wendat. Heres the standard version, sung by Tom Jackson, Canadian Métis actor and singer: https://youtube/watch?v=F_cmnxep67k .... And heres a rendition, which includes the original Huron (along with French and English words): https://youtube/watch?v=D6IG6F6E5Ac
