At CFMV we are constantly trying to coach our members to success. Your successes are our successes and when you are happy youve reached a goal, we share that happiness with you. Many people ask us, What is the most important element of training, or what should I focus on the most in CrossFit? Consistency my friends, consistency. If you have been struggling to reach your fitness goals, ask yourself how consistent you have been. Are you being impatient with your training? Are you giving your training enough time to reap the benefits you are looking for? Changes dont happen overnight! Showing up to the box to train is only half the battle. Being dedicated to a program or plan, and working hard, is the other half. Brian Dunn is arguably one of the most consistent athletes at our gym. I asked him how he approaches his goals. Im personally a fan of setting small goals, ones that may last only a week or two and then readjusting. I think that is a better way to stay focused in the short term, and if you keep doing that for a long period of time, it will have kept you on track all along. Brian couldnt be more right. Set manageable goals for yourself from week to week. A PR of 1-2 pounds is still a PR. Using the small change plates and gaining small increments from week to week can over 10lbs to a lift in a month. This allows you to build confidence as well. The mental game in the gym is just as important as the physical one. Here is a video from last night, of Brian hitting a PR split jerk at 365lbs. He hit a PR snatch two night ago at 270lbs. Great work Brian! This doesnt just apply to 300lb lifts. The same can be said for getting your first strict pull up, taking 10 seconds off your 2k row time, or losing or gaining 5 pounds. CONSISTENCY!!
