At Lalkar rally, Modi advocates abolition of Article 370 0 comments ‘Farooq Abdullah misappropriated JKCA funds’ #Syed_Amjad_Shah #TRV | #Jammu, Dec 1: The Prime Ministerial candidate of rightwing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Narendra Modi Sunday advocated abolition of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. In his address at Lalkar rally, which was attended by over 60, 000 people, Modi lashed out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for “not having taken steps to abolish the act from the state.” “The PM always criticizes me for not following in the footsteps of our leaders,” he said. “But I ask him what has he done regarding abolition of Article 370 from J&K which even Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru desired.” Modi said Omar Abdullah in Kashmir enjoyed more rights than his sister (Sara Abdullah who is married to Sachin Pilot) outside of the state. “It is just because of Article 370,” he said. “And don’t you want that laws implemented in New Delhi should be applied in J&K?” The rightwing politician also slammed separatist leaders for “supporting devastation.” “A select few who demand a separate state are just doing it for their benefit,” he said. “It would not serve purpose to rest of the people. Instead they should push for better governance and development.” He also said communities in Ladakh region ‘have been consistently overlooked.’ “And what have these separatists to offer to Gujjar, Bakerwals in isolated Ladakh. They have been left out on their own.” The BJP leaders, both Rajnath Singh and Modi, criticized a hoarding of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, placed at Tawi Bridge. They accused Farooq Abdullah of misappropriating funds meant for Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. |#RK| |Reporting by #Syed_Amjad_Shah from Jammu; Writing and editing by #Imran_Muzaffar|
