At SHOT Show 2015....This morning I was in line to pickup some printed material from Kinkos. It was a long slow line. Im usually pretty friendly, and would rather chat with a stranger than bury myself into a cellphone. So Im talking to the woman behind me, and were talking about politics and SHOT. Then she asks me if Id seen American Sniper. I havent. She tells me that her son is portrayed in the movie because he was a friend of Chris Kyles, and that her son, Marc Lee, was the first Navy Seal killed in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I asked if there were people waiting for her, and there were. I excused myself, walked to the front of the line and requested that she be allowed to go next. I explained that she was a Purple Heart Mother and deserved recognition. Then I came back, escorted her to the front of the line, gave her my business card, told her that if I could ever be of assistance to call, and went back to the end of the line. When I reflected on this woman and her family having made the ultimate sacrifice, I cried. I wish there was more I could do. I wish there was more I could say to Debbie Lee to let her know that we recognize her pain, appreciate her courage, and that of all the people, she shouldnt have to wait in that line.
