At TRC: Often its the little things.... There are an incredible number of volunteers handing out glasses of water, tissues to dry tears, willingness to sit and put an arm around a shoulder, comforting survivors after their presentations, handing out programs, offering welcoming smiles, etc. Im impressed with the support of the audience; as people speak, they are welcomed with applause, no matter who they are or what role they played in the residential schools system. And the applause continues when a speaker says something significant or needs reassurance and validation. This is a community wanting healing, and committed to it.
