At a poker table, I will often refer to everyone at the table - TopicsExpress

At a poker table, I will often refer to everyone at the table collectively as guys, as in Congratulations on making it to the money, guys. Gender at the table means nothing here because I have been using guys as a gender-neutral pronoun for as long as I can remember. I was using it years ago when I waited on tables (going to a big table with a greeting of Hey guys! Im Brian and Ill be your waiter). Well, today some woman got offended. Like seriously offended. And she got more pissed when I asked her if she was kidding. Does anyone think this is a big deal?!?
