At a time when most people seem to be having to tighten their belts and watch every penny, it is somewhat sickening to hear pledges to Children in Need auctions on the radio in access of 3X annual salary. It is not that I am against supporting CiN, far from it. But it does make me wonder about where the money is in the UK and wonder - however politically unpopular - whether a more equal society in terms of a smaller gap between rich and poor is urgently called for.
