At a wedding (a must go if you live in Jos) and Im seated behind - TopicsExpress

At a wedding (a must go if you live in Jos) and Im seated behind some ladies. They have hammered so much about the brides gown that Im beginning to think I just earned a diploma in wedding gowns. Beside me are 3 guys in suits with the labels intact(a not so easy to correct fashion faux pas) who cant stop talking about last night. Very soon, Im sure theyll start ploting their graphs for the after wedding. It set me wondering about our interests at weddings. I know as a guy, and many of my friends have confirmed that, that if 2 wedding gowns are hung for me to choose which one my wife wore on our wedding day, if I get it right, its guess work. Honestly speaking, I dont remember the colour of our wedding cake, neither do I remember what the preacher said. I couldnt wait for the whole thing to end because I felt awkward in a suit and a tie. Psychologically, ties choke me. I still dont remember all the grooms men, but I know it was a mixture of the married, the about tos, and the only-God-knows- when. It was deliberate choice because I took my group, the only- God-knows-when by surprise. Some are yet to get over it. But I hope theyd be encouraged that their cases werent bad ones. Incase my wife is reading this, Honey(though I dont call you that at home, dont be shocked) dont let this post shake you. I remember the colour of your eyes, the colour of your anxiety, the colour of your love, the colour of our excitement and fears, the vows I took, your dad walking you down the aisle to hand you over, and the day still sticks. These are some of the things which move me at weddings. I like the Church ceremony more because the vows move me to tears, but I keep them back. The reception is usually draining, if you ask me. I wish this couple a happy married life.
