At approximately 17:00 yesterday the team were alerted to a report of a missing female in the area of Godrevy Head. In conjunction with the St. Ives All Weather and Inshore Lifeboats we conducted a search of Godrevy and the cliffs westwards from Hells Mouth. Assistance was also given by the Devon & Cornwall Police helicopter which joined ourselves and the Life Boats to illuminate and broaden the search area. The casualty was located in the water at the foot of the sheer cliffs We were further assisted by our colleagues from St. Ives Coastguard Rescue Team. The casualty was extracted by a Royal Navy Seaking helicopter from 771 Royal Naval Air Squadron based at Culdrose and flown to Treliske Hospital, Truro, where the lady was sadly pronounced dead. We would like to thank our colleagues from the St. Ives CRT, the Devon & Cornwall Police, both the St. Ives Life Boats and of course the crew from 771 Squadron for their help with this long and difficult tasking and also extend our condolences to the casualtys family at this difficult time.
